For noncredit program offerings, you do not have to be admitted into Western; however, for some credit program offerings, you may need to be admitted. Check the program specific website for details.

Some courses will require specific dates and times that you will meet online (referred to as online synchronous) but these sessions are normally limited. These are a great opportunity to meet and network with your class colleagues and your instructor.

Financial Aid is not available for non-credit courses or programs. Please visit our Funding Your Education page for other options that may be available to you. If you are a current Western student enrolled in a Professional and Continuing Education credit course/program, you may be eligible to receive financial aid. Check with Western’s Financial Aid Office for more information and eligibility requirements.

Non-credit Certificate Programs: You will receive an email with your Certificate of Completion within 30 days of completing all required courses for the program.

Credit Certificate Programs: Western PCE credit certificates are transcripted on your academic record.

Learn how to order an official transcript. You can print an unofficial transcript through Web4U. You will receive an email with your Certificate of Completion within 30 days of completion of your program.

Yes, provided you complete all courses in the series. You will not receive a certificate for individual courses, however.

PCE programs and courses that are offered as noncredit are not recorded on a student’s official academic transcript. However upon successful completion of a program, students will receive a Certificate of Completion.

PCE programs and courses that are offered for credit are recorded on a student’s official academic transcript. Students can request a transcript through Western’s Registrar’s Office. Learn how to order an official transcript or print an unofficial transcript through Web4U.

Non-credit courses or certificate programs - Participants are eligible for a refund less a cancellation fee  no later than two (2) weeks prior to the course or program start date. Refund requests must be made in writing by emailing pce@wwu.edu. Refer to individual program registration information for cancellation fee amounts.

Credit courses/programs follow the same withdrawal and refund deadlines as other Bellingham campus courses. Important dates and deadlines are listed on the Registrar’s Office website
